DESIGN OF A 16-M TRAWLER
This trawler was designed for a Breton shipowner who was seeking to replace some of his older scalloping vessels. The design criteria included the volume and the position of the fish hold, the number and the position of the winches, the propulsive power and the speed and the increased comfort living quarters. Given the small trawlers' notoriously high capsize incident rate, a thorough stability analysis was performed as part of this conceptual design.
The computer programs used in this project included AutoCAD for the design of general arrangements, SolidWorks for hull modeling and MAAT HYDRO for the studies of stability.
