DESIGN OF AN ULTRA-LARGE ENERGY EFFICIENT CONTAINERSHIP
I have designed this ultra-large energy-efficient containership for my Master's level design project. The ship is to carry 31,200 standard twenty-foot containers worth of goods from Asia to Europe around the Cape of Good Hope. Because of its enormous carrying capacity and because its cruise speed is relatively small (18 knots) it will use less fuel then its competitors - 2.97 kW of installed power per TEU. The ship will use LNG instead of bunker fuel, thus cutting down on air pollutants. Its lashing bridges and access routes are engineered to ensure safe stevedoring. The superstructure is designed to provide ample and comfortable living and working space for 20 people. To learn more about this design project, please, download the PowerPoint presentation below.
